Being Brutal... 

As a mentor and coach, it’s important to be as clear and truthful with ourselves and our clients as possible.

It seems that in this modern age, truth and honesty can be a rare thing.

Too many people shy away from not only speaking their truth, but hearing others express it too.

Weakness appears to be more prevalent now than it has ever been before. Certain people feign ‘offense’ or ‘hurt’ from just words which don’t fit their model of the world.

Cowardice appears to be far more common than bravery.

I take you back to June 6th, 1944.

The day the tide turned and brave souls, some accepting that they may never return from the beaches of Normandy, still went ahead, and did what they felt was right.

I believe Eisenhower was brutally honest with them all before they left on that dark morning from England’s south coast.

Into the unknown, but with the knowing that this could be their last dawn.

Nobody got offended, upset, or hurt over mere words. They got on with the task in hand.

It was only a relatively short time ago.

Today, as a mentor and friend to my clients I am looking to help even more men who want to perform their own ‘turning of the tide’.

I will at times be brutally (but not harsh) honest.

Because this is how real results are generated.
