Calm Down
Aug 15, 2023Calm Down..
I like this quote because it’s an easy-to-understand truism.
One of the biggest mistakes we can make (and boy, I’ve done this in the distant past!), is to make decisions, especially big decisions in an emotional state.
Experience has shown me NOTHING good ever comes from this.
Anger was one of my biggest challenges to overcome, and I used to get riled up pretty easily…and it was nearly always to my detriment.
Making decisions whilst in a state of anger rarely if ever turns out beneficial.
Now, if anger pops up again, I do a few simple things in response. Firstly, I don’t make any big decisions or take actions based on that anger.
Secondly, I engage in Mental Boxing strategies to put me back in a state of calmness. Just doing a couple of minutes of meditating or deep breathing or exercise shifts your state pretty quickly.
Then I reflect on the source of the anger within me. Observation really makes a difference.
There is nothing wrong with anger. Alan Watts said there are no wrong emotions…just wrong actions. I like that.
Anyway, just a couple of tips which could help you gain greater clarity and prevent making decisions you may regret is today’s message.
Do you agree?
